Ownership
Do I own the cask?
Yes. Each cask is purchased outright and registered in your name. It remains in bonded storage in Scotland under your ownership.
Can I take delivery of the cask itself?
No. Scotch whisky must mature and be bottled in Scotland. Casks remain in bonded storage at all times. Only bottled whisky can be delivered.
Is my cask insured?
Yes. All casks are insured while in bonded storage.
Bottling
Do I need to bottle the entire cask at once?
No. Bottling begins from six bottles and increases in multiples of six.
Any remaining whisky continues to mature in bond until you choose to bottle again.
Is there a maximum I can bottle online?
Up to 30 bottles may be ordered per bottling transaction online.
For larger releases, our concierge team will coordinate the process directly.
There is no limit to how many times you may bottle from your cask over its lifetime.
How many bottles will my cask yield?
Each cask varies depending on age, strength, and natural evaporation. Estimated yields are provided on each product page for guidance.
Can I personalise my bottles?
Yes. You may customise bottle style, closure finish, label design, and naming during the bottling process.
What size are the bottles?
Standard bottlings are 70cl (700ml), in line with international Scotch whisky formats.
Maturation
How long should I hold my cask?
There is no fixed timeline. Whisky matures gradually, shaped by time and oak.
You may bottle whenever you feel the cask is ready.
What is the “angel’s share”?
A small percentage of whisky naturally evaporates during maturation — typically around 2% per year, concentrating flavour over time.
Shipping & Delivery
When is my whisky shipped?
Shipping occurs only after bottling.
Casks remain in Scotland. Bottled whisky can be delivered worldwide, subject to local regulations.
Are duties and taxes included?
For UK deliveries, duty, VAT, and shipping are calculated at checkout.
For international deliveries, import duties and local taxes are determined by the destination country and remain the responsibility of the recipient. Our concierge team coordinates international shipments to ensure compliance.

Cancellations & Resale
Can I cancel my purchase?
Cask purchases may be cancelled within 48 hours of order confirmation for a full refund.
After this period, ownership registration begins and cancellations are no longer available.
Can I return bottled whisky?
No. Once bottled, whisky is considered bespoke and is non-returnable.
What if I decide to sell my cask?
Should you wish to exit ownership, we can assist in facilitating a resale through our network. Prices cannot be guaranteed and will depend on market conditions at the time.
Can someone guide me through the process?
Yes. Our team is available at every stage, from selection to bottling and delivery.
Your Whisky Label, Explained
What Is Regulated?
Scotch Whisky regulations define how a bottle must be presented.
These rules cover:
• Mandatory category wording (e.g. Single Malt Scotch Whisky)
• Alcohol strength (ABV)
• Net volume (70cl / 700ml)
• Bottling location (Scotland)
• Age statements (where declared)
• The size and prominence of certain wording
For example, category descriptions and regional references must follow specific hierarchy requirements and cannot be visually misleading.
What must appear on every bottle?
Each release must clearly display:
• Scotch Whisky classification
• Distillery and region (where applicable)
• Alcohol by volume (ABV)
• Net volume
• Bottled in Scotland
• Legal bottler information
These elements ensure global recognition and regulatory compliance.
Are labels compliant?
All Barrels of Scotch label templates are pre-designed to meet Scotch Whisky regulatory standards.
This ensures:
• Accuracy
• Authenticity
• Seamless production
Your chosen bottle name becomes the defining title of the release, presented within a structure that meets all regulatory requirements.
Can I create a fully bespoke label?
yes. For clients seeking a fully customised label beyond our standard format, we offer a bespoke labelling service for a fixed fee.
Our team will develop a tailored design aligned with your vision, while ensuring full compliance with Scotch Whisky regulations.
Details available upon request.
